Primary Purpose

Provide technical and operational support for events held at the Visual and Performing Arts Center (VPAC) by implementing production requirements, preparing facilities and equipment, and ensuring safe, high-quality event execution for district, community, and rental users.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree

Valid Texas teaching certificate (focus in Fine Arts preferred)

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply technical information from plans, blueprints, and drawings

Knowledge of school district fine arts department operating procedures that are consistent with district goals

Ability to interpret policy and procedures

Knowledge of theatrical light and sound equipment such as lighting consoles, LED lighting equipment, intelligent lighting control systems, electrical power supply, projectors, audio consoles, microphones, and patching of both audio and lighting systems

Knowledge of theatrical rigging systems

Knowledge of school district policies and procedures

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Skill in multi-tasking in conducting multiple events simultaneously

 

Experience:

Experience in either education or the entertainment industry preferred

Experience with digital audio, audio/visual (A/V), and lighting control systems preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Event Production and Technical Operations:
Provide technical support for Frisco ISD, community, and rental events at the Visual and Performing Arts Center (VPAC).
Implement lighting, sound, audiovisual, and production requirements in accordance with event specifications and rental agreements.
Interpret and execute technical requirements in coordination with the VPAC Manager.
Support rehearsals, performances, exhibitions, competitions, and special events.
Participate in the setup, testing, operation, and strike of all technical equipment.
Operate VPAC technical systems and assets under the direction of the VPAC Manager.
Collaborate with VPAC staff to ensure high-quality event execution.
Attend and participate in production meetings as required.

 

Facility Operations and Maintenance:

Work with Frisco ISD Fine Arts, Maintenance and Facilities, and School Services administrative staff, community organizations, and other stakeholders for both Frisco ISD and rental events.

Prepare and maintain performance and event spaces to ensure readiness for scheduled use.

Ensure the facility is clean, orderly, safe, and accessible for all users.

Enforce safety guidelines and ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other applicable regulations.

Provide access to approved VPAC-owned and rental equipment for events.

Assist with facility repairs, alterations, and upgrades as assigned.

Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs of technical equipment.

Support upgrades and expansions of technical systems as directed.

Implement procedures for artwork rotation and front-of-house displays.

Coordinate ingress and egress procedures for facility users.

 

Staff Coordination and Personnel Support:

Collaborate with full-time and part-time staff, student employees, interns, and volunteers.

Assist the VPAC Manager regarding staffing needs and production labor requirements.

Assist and consult with the scheduling of technical crews for events and productions.

Demonstrate effective coaching and mentoring practices for staff and peers.

Promote a positive, collaborative, and supportive work environment.

 

Training and Professional Learning:

Provide cross-training to staff on technical disciplines and control systems.

Assist in developing a Fine Arts professional development program for training district teachers as assigned.

Participate in and facilitate training for operations staff, campus staff, and students on VPAC technical systems.

Support professional learning related to production design, equipment operation, and event management.

Serve as a technical consultant to support district fine arts programs.

Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, equipment, and best practices.

 

Communication and Community Relations:

Maintain effective communication with district staff, faculty, students, parents, community partners, and patrons.

Promote collaborative teamwork and positive relationships, encouraging student-parent input to develop a positive working environment.

Respond constructively to feedback and concerns.

Participate in community activities that support district engagement and goodwill.

Represent the district in a professional and courteous manner.

 

Administration and Program Support:

Assist in implementing a systematic plan for facility use by all stakeholders.

Support fine arts use of the district ticketing system.

Maintain accurate equipment inventories and usage records.

Report to the Managing Director of Fine Arts on performance-related responsibilities.

Support documentation and reporting related to facility and program operations.

 

Safety, Compliance, and Professional Expectations:

Ensure a safe working environment for staff, students, performers, and patrons.

Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and district policies.

Maintain required certifications and trainings needed for educational arts events (i.e. UIL contests).

Demonstrate professional, ethical, and responsible conduct.

Take initiative to develop professional skills related to job responsibilities.

Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Follow district attendance policies and all applicable rules and procedures.

Support the mission, vision, and values of Frisco ISD.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions.  Frequent districtwide and/or statewide travel. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.  Prolonged sitting; frequent bending/stooping, pushing/.pulling, and twisting.  Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.  Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
