Primary Purpose

Provide vision, leadership, and management to ensure effective coordination, implementation, and promotion of Student Services programs while encompassing the Whole Child concept.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

Master’s degree, or higher in Education
Mid Management or Principal Certification

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Sound knowledge of the Whole Child Model and how to effectively implement, evaluate, and promote it districtwide
Knowledge of proactive and inclusionary student management processes
Ability to organize and coordinate districtwide programs
Ability to manage budget and personnel
Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data
Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Ability to effectively navigate and manage conflict
Ability to collaborate with District and non-District entities to improve student outcomes, as well as the health and wellness of students and staff

 

Experience:
Campus level or District level administrative experience
Minimum of three years of experience teaching preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Program Management and Administration:
Collaborate inter-departmentally to ensure that student services initiatives align with the efforts of other departments, the mission and vision of Frisco ISD, and are in the best interest of students.

Monitor, evaluate, and update assigned programs and processes for the District.

Organize and coordinate districtwide programs.

Collaboratively plan the strategic goals, objectives, action plans, evaluation, and timelines for practices that are preventative, proactive, and less exclusionary.

Provide support for campus administrators to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, policies, and guidelines.

Collect, analyze, and evaluate data to drive and measure the effectiveness of assigned programs and programmatic implementation.

Facilitate discussions with campus administrators regarding student behavior and disproportionality, and assist in developing and executing behavior support plans.

Manage budget and personnel.


Communication and Community Relations:
Proactively communicate updates to campus and District administrators regarding the implementation of and processes surrounding student behavior support.

Demonstrate strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.

Collaborate with District and non-District entities to improve student outcomes.

Represent Frisco ISD at different events and functions within the District and community.

Facilitate District interaction with local agencies as needed.

Demonstrate skill in conflict resolution with administrators, parents, teachers, staff, and community.

Personnel Management:
Provide oversight of District personnel implementing policies and practices for programs including, but not limited to, District 504, school health advisory council (SHAC), homebound tutors, and campus intervention programs.

Engage in the recruitment, selection, and training of personnel; make informed recommendations relevant to personnel placement, including termination recommendations when necessary.

Periodically serve as a hearing officer or investigator in regard to grievances, complaints, and appeals.

 
Professional Growth:
Provide professional development regarding assigned programs.

Develop and/or coordinate districtwide professional learning surrounding student behavior support, investigations, policy interpretation, student discipline, Chapter 37, and attendance for credit procedures.

Increase the capacity of current assistant principals through the development of strategic professional learning and mentor support via Frisco ISD leadership programming.

Attend appropriate professional development activities.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise and evaluate the performance of employees in assigned areas to ensure effectiveness.

Other Duties as Assigned

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress. Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching. Occasional lifting and carrying (generally less than 20 pounds). May work prolonged or irregular hours. Ability to travel to multiple work locations as assigned.
